Andrew Bernardez, SE
Motto: Keep an open mind and make great discoveries happen.
Andrew Bernardez joined CTS in 2004 as a junior engineer and has gained extensive engineering experience in retail, restaurant, and healthcare projects. Now a Project Manager, he leads and guides team members on projects and topics such as steel design and detailing, retrofit, and build-outs. He thrives on helping clients fill their engineering needs, big or small.
Growing up in a family contracting business, sparked Andrews career in engineering. He initially studied mechanical engineering due to his fascination with heavy equipment and the diesel engines he saw on jobsites, but he soon realized that he enjoyed civil engineering much more. Andrew earned his Civil Engineering degree from Mapúa University, where his senior coursework was working on driven pile foundations on an 18-story condo tower development by Manila Bay under Sumitomo Corporation, a Japanese multi-national general construction company. Trips to Phoenix during his youth, and the desert’s charm and bright blue skies, won Andrew over and so he chose to make Arizona his home.
Aside from his membership with SEAoA and ASCE, Andrew also maintains his professional registration and life member status with the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE).
Personal: I enjoy going on foodie and road trips with my wife Sarah and two kids, and taking nature trails and appreciating the desert landscapes on hikes. Good times include working on RC cars and Nerfs with my son, and spoiling my little girl – cracking dad jokes of course. We also enjoy sharing our family time at local FMSC – Feed My Starving Children events.
